Indian Railways is set to launch a new overnight sleeper train under its Vande Bharat series, connecting New Delhi and Srinagar. This Vande Bharat Sleeper, designed by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), is scheduled to begin operations in January 2025, offering a faster and more comfortable travel option for long-distance journeys.

The prototype was unveiled by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in September 2024. Senior officials have stated that this train will greatly improve rail connectivity between Delhi and Srinagar, with future plans to extend the route to Baramulla, further enhancing access to the region.

The Northern Railway (NR) zone will manage the train’s operations and maintenance. Covering over 800 kilometers, the Vande Bharat Sleeper will complete the journey from New Delhi to Srinagar in under 13 hours, aided by the timely completion of the USBHL project.

The train will depart from New Delhi at 7:00 PM and arrive in Srinagar at 8:00 AM the following day, making key stops at Ambala Cantt Junction, Ludhiana Junction, Kathua, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Sangaldan, and Banihal.

Ticket prices for the Vande Bharat Sleeper will vary by class, with AC 3 Tier (3A) tickets priced around ₹2,000, AC 2 Tier (2A) at ₹2,500, and AC First Class (1A) at ₹3,000.
